Introduction

The Smartbills web app at app.smartbills.io is your central hub for managing expenses, receipts, reports, and team spending. Whether you are an employee submitting receipts, a manager reviewing reports, or an administrator configuring policies, the dashboard gives you everything you need in one place.

Dashboard Layout

The dashboard is divided into three main areas:

Left Sidebar

The sidebar is your primary navigation. It is organized into personal and business sections: Personal

• Home: Your personalized dashboard with activity summaries, pending tasks, and recent expenses
• Expenses: Your own expenses, where you upload, review, and organize what you paid for yourself
• My Expense Reports: Create, edit, and track your submitted expense reports

Business

• Expenses: The company expense inbox where managers and finance teams review all employee expenses
• Bills: Upload and manage vendor bills and invoices
• Vault: A secure document storage area for receipts, contracts, and financial records
• Vendors: Manage vendor profiles, contact details, and spending history
• Team: Invite members, assign roles, and manage your organization
• Approvals: Review and act on pending expense report approvals

System

• Settings: Configure business preferences, categories, departments, integrations, and billing

Top Bar

The top bar provides quick access to:

• Business Selector: Switch between businesses if you belong to more than one organization
• Notifications: View alerts for approvals, comments, and status changes
• User Menu: Access your profile, preferences, and sign-out option

Main Content Area

The central area displays the page you have selected. It adapts to each section with contextual filters, search bars, tables, and detail panels.

Appearance

Smartbills supports both light and dark modes. Toggle between them using the theme switch in the sidebar or user menu. Your preference is saved to your profile and applies across all devices.
