Overview

The dashboard is built around a sidebar on the left and a header across the top. What you see in the sidebar depends on your role, so two colleagues in the same business can have noticeably different navigation.

The sidebar

The sidebar has three parts: a business switcher at the top, navigation in the middle, and Integrations and Settings pinned at the bottom.

Business switcher

The current business’s logo and name sit at the very top. Selecting it lists every business you belong to and lets you switch, or add another. See Switching between businesses.

Your work

The first navigation group is always visible and covers your own activity.
Your landing page, with recent activity and quick actions.
Log business driving and claim reimbursement for it. Business context only, so it does not appear in your personal account.Mileage
The expenses you paid for yourself. Upload receipts, categorize them, and organize them ready for a report.Expenses
Your own reports. Create them, add expenses, submit for approval, and recall if you need to change something.A badge on this item counts reports an approver has sent back to you for changes.Expense Reports

The business group

The second group is labelled with your business’s name. It only appears if your role gives you access to something in it, which is why a Member sees no business group at all.
Expenses paid by the business rather than by an individual, such as corporate card charges and invoices forwarded by email. Finance Team, Finance Admins, and Administrators.Business Expenses
Accounts payable. Vendor invoices your business owes, through approval and payment. Finance Team, Finance Admins, and Administrators.Bills
Secure document storage. Finance Admins and Administrators.Vault
Your vendor directory, including portal connections that retrieve invoices automatically. Finance Admins and Administrators.Vendors
Expense reports waiting on you, organized by state. Managers, Finance Admins, and Administrators.Approvals

Pinned at the bottom

Team management is not a sidebar item. It lives under Settings > Workspace > Team, with the member roster at Settings > Organization > Employees.

The header

Appearance

Light, dark, and system themes are available from the user menu under Appearance. The setting is stored in the browser, so it applies to the device you set it on rather than following you across devices.

Collapsing the sidebar

Collapse the sidebar to icons with Ctrl + B or Cmd + B, or the control at its edge. It also collapses automatically when you open an expense report or approval detail view, to give the document more room, and expands again when you leave.

Keyboard shortcuts

Drag and drop anywhere

Dragging a receipt file onto any page opens the upload dialog with that file attached. You do not need to be on the Expenses page first.
