Overview
The Sage integration exports approved expenses from Smartbills into Sage accounting products. It supports dimension mapping, tax group synchronization, and batch posting for efficient financial processing.This integration supports Sage Business Cloud Accounting and Sage Intacct. Contact support for Sage 50 connectivity.

Setup

Open the Apps Marketplace
In Smartbills, go to Settings > Apps and search for Sage.

Select Sage Product
Choose your Sage product (Business Cloud Accounting or Intacct).

Connect Your Account
Click Connect and sign in to your Sage account. Authorize Smartbills to access your data.

Map Ledger Accounts
Map Smartbills categories to Sage nominal codes or GL accounts.

Configure Dimensions
Map departments and projects to Sage dimensions.

Set Sync Preferences
Configure batch posting frequency and default settings.

Check the error log in Settings > Apps > Sage > Sync History for specific transaction errors. Common causes include unmapped accounts or inactive nominal codes.

Ensure the target nominal code is active in Sage. Re-sync the chart of accounts from the integration settings.

Verify that the mapped dimensions exist and are active in your Sage account. Inactive dimensions will cause posting failures.

Sage OAuth tokens expire periodically. Go to Settings > Apps > Sage and click Reconnect to re-authorize.
