Overview
The Smartbills connector lets Claude work in your Smartbills business with your own permissions. Ask about spend, turn receipts into expenses, file and approve expense reports, and create and track bills and invoices — in Claude on the web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code. Results for receipts, expenses, expense reports, bills, invoices, spend and budgets appear as interactive cards in the conversation.Key Features

- A Smartbills account that belongs to at least one business
- A Claude plan that supports connectors

Add the connector
In Claude, open Customize > Connectors, find Smartbills in the directory and click Connect.Not listed yet for you? Choose Add custom connector and enter

Sign in
Sign in with your Smartbills account.

Choose a business and permissions
Pick the business Claude should work in and review the permissions requested. To use another business later, ask Claude to switch, or disconnect and reconnect.

Try it
Ask “How much did we spend on software last quarter?” or “What’s waiting for my approval?”
Permissions and safety
- Claude sees only the tools your role and the permissions you granted allow. It can never do more than you can in Smartbills.
- Read tools run freely. Changes are marked as writes, and deleting, rejecting and other irreversible actions always ask you to confirm.
- The connector never moves money. It records payments made outside Smartbills, but does not send, refund or schedule payments.
- Every change Claude makes is recorded in your business’s audit log with the connected app’s name.
- Tool calls are billed to your Claude plan, not to your Smartbills AI credits. Rate limits apply per business.
