# Getting Started

> Start receiving digital receipts in minutes

## Create Your Account

### Step 1: Download the App

### Step 2: Sign Up

Open the app and create your account:

1. Tap **Get Started**
2. Enter your email or phone number
3. Create a password
4. Verify your account via email/SMS

### Step 3: Complete Your Profile

Add your details:

* Name
* Profile photo (optional)
* Preferred language
* Notification preferences

## Link Your Payment Cards

### Why Link Cards?

Linking your cards enables automatic receipt delivery. When you pay with a linked card at a Smartbills merchant, your receipt appears automatically.

### How to Link a Card

1. Go to **Settings > Payment Cards**
2. Tap **Add Card**
3. Choose method:
   * **Scan** - Use camera to scan card
   * **Manual** - Enter card details
4. Verify if required

### Supported Cards

* Visa
* Mastercard
* American Express
* Discover
* Most debit cards

### Security

* Card numbers are encrypted
* We never store full card numbers
* Bank-level security
* PCI DSS compliant

## Make Your First Purchase

### At a Smartbills Merchant

1. Shop as normal
2. Pay with your linked card
3. Receipt arrives in seconds
4. Tap notification to view

## Using the App

### Home Screen

Your recent receipts appear on the home screen:

* Swipe through recent purchases
* See total spending this month
* Quick access to rewards

### Receipt Details

Tap any receipt to see:

* Full itemized list
* Tax breakdown
* Payment method used
* Store location
* Date and time

### Search & Filter

Find receipts quickly:

* Search by merchant
* Search by item name
* Filter by date range
* Filter by category
* Filter by amount

### Categories

Receipts are auto-categorized:

| Category      | Types                     |
| ------------- | ------------------------- |
| Restaurants   | Dining, cafes, bars       |
| Groceries     | Supermarkets, food stores |
| Shopping      | Retail, clothing          |
| Gas           | Fuel stations             |
| Entertainment | Movies, events            |
| Health        | Pharmacy, medical         |

## Troubleshooting

### Receipt didn't arrive?

1. Check if the merchant uses Smartbills
2. Verify your card is linked
3. Wait a few minutes (can take up to 1 hour)
4. Contact support if issue persists

### Can't link card?

1. Ensure card is active
2. Check card details are correct
3. Try scanning instead of manual entry
4. Contact your bank if issues continue
